Quick update

Just a quick note

I have been in the van now for over a week and am settling in OK.  I am still at the provincial park and will be there for at least the next week.  Its getting pretty damn cold in the morning, but so far I am doing good with it all.  At the end of the month I will be moving into a private campground.  At least then I will have acces to power and showers!

Anyway till next time

Be safe and warm

Moving on and making plans

Well today has been a rather hard one for me in a lot of way but in some others it has been a good one.

Trina did break my heart and that is the simple truth of it all.  I have loved her more than I thought possible.  We had a little arguement last night and again this morning but after that we had a good heart to heart, thats one thing we havent been good at now for some time, talking and sharing our true feelings and thoughts.

Actually I have to thank her in some ways.  the feelings from each of us have changed a lot since we quite drinking in January.  We have been drifting a part ever since and once we both started working again it has only become worse.  Like I say I have to thank her for being the strong one to put voice to it first and to be the one to make that hard choice.  There were things that she wanted from me that I was just unable to provide her with, like a baby,  I was snipped 13 years ago.  That and other things as well.  So we move on from here.

Now I get to put into practice all that I have learned from Vandwellers and from 2 Dogs.  Now I just need to get the van a little better equipped. I have the old battery that came with the van, just a regular starting one but it will do for a few weeks until I get the other items in place.  This payday I will be purchasing an inteligent battery charger and a 300 watt inverter.

This is the inverter  http://www.canadiantire.ca/AST/browse/4/Auto/SolarPortablePower/Inverters/PRD~0111848P/Digital%252BPower%252B400W%252BInverter.jsp?locale=en

And the charger

After that the next items on the list are a proper deep cycle batter and a generator.  BUT i will probably get myself a laptop before that.  I know I should get the generator and battery first but I am addicted to the net!!  lol

Well time to put into practice everything I have learned from all of you wonderful folks.

Stay safe and WARM

Decisions made

Well it looks like my love of 4+ years has made up her mind about us.

She told me Sunday night via Facebook message that she no longer wants to be with me, doesnt love me and has not for some time now.  Damn that was a cold way to do it!  I am hurt beyond belief as I am 41 and have NEVER been dumped before, so I don't really know how to handle it.  In some ways I can see this as a good thing as I have felt the growing distance the past few months myself.

No I just have to get serious about setting up the van for permanent living as there is NO WAY I can afford an apartment.  No overly sure I would want one anyway.  The only HUGE down side is that we are expecting the worst winter in 50 years..........

Be safe

A few pics of where I am staying

The beach at the Provincial park

These deer where about 10 feet behind my van just enjoying a little lunch!

Learning

I've spent the last 5 nights living in the Van and I have to say that I am really enjoying it a lot!

If I didn't have to drive to work EVERY day it would be so much cheaper.  I can honestly estimate that my expense including the van insurance will only be about $500 a month.  That includes food, fuel, insurance, and cell.  Not too bad if you ask me.

The only problems that I have had to face so far are cooling temps at night and rain.  It has rained every day and night so far with the exception of today.  Sleeping hasn't been an issue as I am nice and warm in the van under a quilt and blanket.  Staying dry any time I am outside is another matter altogether!

I have been asked to join the family for Thanksgiving dinner tomorrow night at home and we will see how things go then.  I have a lot of hope that my wife and I will be able to work things out and I should be back at home sometime soon,  If not I know that I am totally capable to live this way for a VERY long time as I am as comfortable as I can possibly imagine being.

Be safe everyone and have a happy Thanksgiving to all in Canada!

First Post

This is my first post to my first time with a Blog.

This is going to chronicle my life as it goes along, come what may.

A few days ago my wife of almost 4 years told me that she wasn't sure if she still loved me or not.  She wanted time to figure things out about us.  She was bored with me and our life.  I cant blame her I am really bored with our life and with her as well at this point.

The next day she tells me to forget all about it and that she doesn't want or need the time alone.  I decided that I wanted the time and I felt that she was only saying that in order to NOT hurt me.  So I decided to "go camping" in the van for an undetermined amount of time.  Im not going to lie and say that I am HAPPY about the way things are going, I dont enjoy being apart from my wife and our girls (my step kids), but this is just the way things are right now.

I may end up living in my van on a permanent basis.  I am OK with that because I have learned so much from the Yahoo Group Vandwellers (http://autos.groups.yahoo.com/group/VanDwellers/) and from a fellow (Two Dogs) that has been doing this for 25 years (http://www.hipforums.com/newforums/showthread.php?t=291549)

I have spent the last two nights at a local campground that I can be at for two weeks for no cost due to my being disabled and having the requisite form all ready in hand.  I have figured out the hows and wheres once that has been exhausted.  I just have to get some small amount of power for charging my cell phone.

Things I will need if I am going to do this permanently:

Deepcycle Battery
Battery Charger
Inverter
1000W Generator
Lap Top
Heat source

Changes that will need to be made to the van for permanently living in it:

Remove the middle two captains chairs
Install shelves

Anyway thats about it for now

Good day to you
